Program Duration: 1 week Age: 24 years old Nationality: United States I think I really lucked out with my teachers. They were both interesting and had creative ways of teaching. Karlita had us teach sometimes. Fredy had us interview people about concepts or vocab, so much fun. My favorite part was when we would stray from the grammar and Fredy would talk about history and Mayan Culture & the civil war. That is what I emailed home about all the history I was learning! They were patient with our mistakes, encouraged us to talk more. I will definitely be back someday. I will pass on this information to everyone in my home town! Thank you!

All of the staff and teachers truly care about each other and the students, and this environment is extremely beficial to the learning process. It was also easy to see that everyone here loves their work. I learned a lot of Spanish in jus two weeks, and I enjoyed every second of it.

The teachers all good (Alma, Diego, Flor & Francisco) and the classes weree fund and educational. My homestay was also very good. My only suggestion for improvement would be to improve the lighting at school and at the homestay. My eyes are 67 years old and need lots of light.

Class sizes are small, and in most cases students receive one on one attention (which at any time can be asked for). The school offers fun trips during the week to differnte places around Antigua including tours of churches and different shops. There is even salsa lessons and a soccer game between students of teachers. The school really helped me to get inmmersed quickly in the rich culture of Antigua.

When I first arrived in Guatemala I did not speak Spanish, but after 5 weeks of classes I can understand and speak Spanish. The teachers at COINED are really good. They are patient, creative and fun. If you do not like your classes of something else, they will try their best to change it for you. I would definitely recommend this school to my friend. Es muy bueno!!!

We only had a week (which in only enough time to get started) The instructors had us jump right in to learning the language. It was fund and challenging, our comprehension improved gramatically in a week, speaking will take lots of practice.

The instructors were very goofgd at challenging us to speck and practice what we had learned each day. More visual tools would have been helpful we seemed to learn quickly when we had pictures to go along with the learning. It was difficult to have the classes so late in the day. Mornings would have been better so we could have participated in the activities that were planned by the school. I would like to thank Jorge for his assistance with my health, he did extra work to help me. Thank you... Our homestay was excellent. We enjoyed our family very much. The food was excellent and Ester was very helpful with our Spanish at each meal. I would highly recommend her home for students.

I understand a lot more about the language and culture because of this program. I met a lot of great people who I intend to stay in contact with, and I learned a lot from the activities provided. The one on one classroom learning has really helped me to speak the language and the teachers helped to make it fun and interesting. I also love the open-air classrooms. It is a great environment. I definitely recommend this program to anyone interested in learning Spanish, meeting people and having fun.-

Though only here for a week, I quuickly noted how helpful and accommodating each member of the staff was. I learned very basic Spanish grammar (as my knowledge of the language prior to arrival was zero) and all lessons were taught very professional and knowledgable teachers. Should I have stayed longer, I would have left with the ability to converse in Spanish with ease. Antigua is absolutely Gorgeous and I never expected my homestay to be as accommodating, clar and comfortable. I took Salsa lessons all week and it was a blast! I seriously recommend this trip, but stay at least 2-3 weeks if you can!

I was assured if I had any problems or questions the rhere was always someone available to help. The host family was incredible and imperative to my experience in Antigua. The combination fo my homestay, classes, excursions, and the clinic led to a very comprehensive learning environment. They were also very flexible if ever I desired to change time or excursions. Experiencing a new culture was a great learning experience. Central Park was very pleasant & the "boob fountain" is a monumentl work of art. The only bad part was the roosters. If I hear another crowing rooster, I am going to lose it. But the skill of Guatemala barbers is beyong compare. Dude shaved my head to look like a soccer ball with only a straight razor & a comb!!
